Design, Simulation and Analysis

ARA has a team of highly capable engineers who combine their diverse skills to develop creative, innovative solutions to complex problems.

Our design team uses aerospace industry standard CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to create virtual 3D engineering assemblies of a wide variety of systems from simple structural supports to scale models of fighter jets.

Our designers use FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to check that their designs are safe to use with sufficient structural strength to withstand the loads – the combination of forces and moments – which they will be subjected to when in use.

We use what we make in our own test facilities – including our Transonic Wind Tunnel where the models we test are subjected to high and dynamic load conditions and where failure is not an option.

Our aerodynamics team use CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software as well as theory and empirical techniques to create estimates for the loads which structures and systems will be subjected to in order to provide the loads used in the FE analyses. They can also use the models they create to predict performance, make recommendations for improvements, and to design and inform real world experiments.
